On August 15, 2016 at 6:30 pm the Chatham Kent 4-H Sugarbeet Club had their fourth meeting. At the meeting we had our Field Day at University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus. We began the night with the 4-H pledge then we toured a Cercospora test plot. There Phyllis May talked to us about the work that she was doing and how the experiment was carried out. Then Dr. Laura VanEerd talked to us about nitrogen levels and beets. Our third speaker of the night was a student who talked to us about spray applications. We then continued with the remainder of the meeting. The roll call question was “Tell us a fact about sugarbeets.” Once roll call was done, the minutes from meeting three were read by Ryan McKerrall, a motion to adopt the minutes was made by Ian Lawton and seconded by William McKerrall, the motion was carried. Our leaders then talked to us about the next meeting which would be the test that Michigan Sugar provides. Once that was completed a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by William McKerrall and seconded by Ian Lawton, the motion was carried and the meeting was adjourned by club president Brady Bustin.
